kTon/year of FORSU treatment

The plant will be built in the Municipality of Trinitapoli in the ‘San Lorenzo’ locality, located within the area delimited by the SS544 Foggia-Trinitapoli State Roads, the SS16 and the SP 77, which can be travelled after taking the Cerignola Ovest or Foggia exit on the e55 motorway. The project envisages the construction of the new composting plant for the production of mixed composted soil improver for agricultural use. In particular, the project’s aerobic composting plant will allow the production of ‘mixed composted soil improver’, which complies with the requirements of point 5 of attachment 2 of Legislative Decree 75 of 29 April 2010, intended for use in agriculture and/or nursery gardening, with a treatment capacity of 23,360 t/y of urban waste (mixed composted) and non-hazardous special waste (agro-food waste, lignocellulosic agro-industrial sludge) as input. The project composting plant: Biocells and primary and secondary maturation The material coming out of the reception area forsu and pre-treatment is sent to the aerobic treatment phase in biotunnels, after mixing with structuring material and possibly compost coming out of the primary maturation aisles. From this, the digestate will be sent for secondary composting in unventilated aisles under a canopy. Typically, the digestate sent for composting can be considered to be mixed with up to 50 % material, consisting of the recirculation from the composting phase in structured aerated lanes and/or wood chips. The treatment consists of a first intensive composting phase in biotunnels (or cells with aerated lanes) and a second primary maturation phase in ploughed lanes.
